Towtruck Guys = Dirty Rotten Scoundrels

Posted on 21:07 by rendy orton
I stopped by my old apartment to pick up a few things, and I just parked right in front. I figured that it wasn't worth going all the way up the parking garage to the top level where the visitor parking spots are, since I'd only be there for a few minutes. Well I came back out just in time. A tow truck pulled his quick maneuver and had my car lifted up in about 5 seconds. I was able to stop him from driving away, and he made me pay just to lower my car back down and not tow it. I was so angry I just about cussed him out. Fortunately I was able to keep my head and pay the guy. Man those guys really make me mad! Talk about scumbags! Just in case you see him out and about, here's a picture of his tow truck license plate number:

6-0 After the First Inning?

Posted on 12:03 by rendy orton
Deloitte treated the interns to a Washington Nationals baseball game last night, and I was fortunate to be able to go. They were playing against the LA Angels of Anaheim (sidenote: how can you not love a name as ridiculous as that? Ya just gotta!).I went in with some of the interns and we found our seats, then I went down to give Judi her ticket (it's nice when there are extra tickets) and it took a little bit because she got a little lost on the metro (3 wrong trains -- ugh). From the front gate, I watched on the huge screen as the Angels scored 6 runs in the top of the first inning. I missed the whole thing. By the time Judi got there and we made it to our seats, I think the score was 8-2 for the Angels.
We grabbed some food, drinks, and ice cream, and didn't really pay attention the rest of the game, because it was essentially already over. But it was a fun first trip to the Nationals new ballpark, and I'm glad I went.

PS Oh, and I got hit on by a couple 15 year-old Indiana girls when I was buying my ice cream. The look on their faces was priceless when I told them I'm 27... Suckers!

Adios, Pardner!

Posted on 11:49 by rendy orton
The time for Jason's departure from the DC area is rapidly approaching (Thursday), so Rich pulled together a group of us to have dinner at Guapo's (how appropriate!) in Shirlington. We had a good group show up, and we enjoyed the Latin cuisine, Southwestern/Mexican decor, and of course excellent conversation.
We especially liked the painting on the wall by our table, as it reminded us of a movie we all loved as roommates, Tombstone. We took the picture below to commemorate the occasion and our love of the Wyatt Earp movie with such classic lines as "I'm your huckleberry" and "Why Ed does this mean we're not friends anymore? You know Ed, if I thought you weren't my friend... I just don't think I could bear it!" Classic.
Well, Jason, you will be missed as you ride off into the West in your steel, GPS-led thoroughbred. Come back and see us after you get your license. On second thought, fly back and see us!

Pool Party at Casey's

Posted on 14:14 by rendy orton
Note: I'm finishing this post in October 2011. A tad late, but better to have it recorded than to completely forget, right?

My friend Casey had a pool party (for no particular reason except that it was summer, if I remember correctly), and you don't have to ask me twice to join in for some pool fun. We had a good group, and since it was at his parents' house, we had lots of toys to play with.
Turtle goggles! Looks like I've got a shark on my tail.
Casey in front of some of our gang
Thanks for the pool-time fun, Casey!

Nancy's Big 24

Posted on 06:29 by rendy orton
Nancy turned the big 2-4, and she had a little party to celebrate. Okay, so it was actually a pretty good sized party with a lot of friends. We all enjoyed spending the time together and talking with her on her big day. In her short time here so far, she has certainly made an impact on us and she's made a lot of friends due to her kind nature and inviting smile. Sadly, my camera battery died, so I didn't get any pictures.

What? No Sweet Caroline?

Posted on 06:27 by rendy orton
Karaoke is a wonderful thing. It brings people together and allows them to be goofy around each other with no concern of being ridiculed. Jen invited a bunch of us over to her house to do karaoke, since she's got a video game that makes it really easy. I'm not saying we're wonderful singers or anything, but we're certainly not the worst. There was also some fun with dancing (and one dip gone wrong) and relaxing in the massage chair. I definitely gotta get me one of those.
